  • Technology Update

It has been a busy, busy two weeks since I got back from vacation so I thought I'd give a quick update on what I've been working on.

    Vista RC1
I know I said I would wait until the RTM but my XP image was running a little funny anyway so I thought I'd give the RC1 code a chance.  I had been running the July CTP at home for a while and was pleasantly surprised at how much better it was than previous builds.  The RC1 seems to be even more stable but still has a few kinks.

    Windows Live Writer
For those of you that haven't heard, Microsoft released a free blog publishing application that lets you post to a handful of supported blog types (Blogger, Community Server, LiveJournal to name a few).  It works pretty well out of the box but there is also an SDK available in case there's something extra you want it to do.  Try it out for yourself here.

    Office 2007 Beta 2 TR
News has finally started to trickle out about the much anticipated Technical Refresh for both the Office client and SharePoint server products.  It sounds like today will be the day and the refresh will be delivered in a patch format.  It does not sound like a "double-click and forget it" upgrade though...  Be sure to check out the SharePoint Team's blog (Installing B2TR...) for more information.

  • MNSPUG Recap

Yesterday, Wes and I presented on Web Content Management using SharePoint 2007.  We had a great turnout (over 100 people!) and some really good questions from the group.  In my section I covered SharePoint Designer and how to create custom Content Types, Layout Pages, and Master Pages.  As always, you can find the presentation out on the MNSPUG site at http://sharepointmn.inetium.com/User Group Presentations.

  • Back to work

    After a fantastic vacation:

It is time to get back to:

    Sigh...

I don't have all the details yet (still digging through unread email/blogs) but it sounds like the Vista RC was released, although I won't get my hands on it (via MSDN) until next week or so.  Also, if I understand right, it sounds like the Office TR won't be ready until after that??  Hopefully there's a better story in my unread blogs...
