Microsoft CRM 4.0 New Feature: Duplicate Detection

As everyone is getting ready for the release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 I thought I would blog about some of the new features coming in CRM 4.0.  One of the powerful new features is Duplicate Detection.  Not only does this new feature allow you to setup duplicate detection rules when saving new records but you can also create processes that mine your CRM data to look for potential duplicate information and then it will send notifications of the results to CRM administrators (plural) via email. 

Step 1:  Launch the Duplicate Detection Wizard (My Work – Workplace)

 

Step 2:  Create your Duplicate Detection Query

 

Step 3:  Validate your Query Logic (view potential duplicates)

 

Step 4:  Name your job, schedule the recurrence, setup email notification

 

Step 5:  Finish the wizard 

 

Step 6:  Review the system job that has been created

 

This new feature allows you to easily mine your CRM database and look for duplicate information.  This is a very powerful feature that helps maintain the integrity of your Microsoft Dynamics CRM database!
